Hi guys! So, I've been wanting to get my hands on these four body shop products for quite some time now. When I landed in Abu Dhabi this was literally the first thing I bought. I love the body shop products packaging, minimalistic and clean. I'm going to breaking it down for you guys so you know how I felt about these individually. This is not a sponsored post, I purchased these myself.
Himalayan charcoal purifying glow mask - dhs 115 (lkr 4,715)
I completely forgot to purchase the brush to apply this mask as I was literally buying these while the shop was about to close. Using your fingers is no harm though, pretty much the same thing. First reaction was you get a cooling sort of peppermint feeling in your eyes and a few seconds later it started to sting my face badly, especially around my mouth and cheekbones. It felt like I was being stung by tiny bees all over but after a few minutes it goes away. Some of you commented on this when I posted it on my Instagram stories and said you didn't like the smell but I honestly didn't think the smell was that bad... it's actually kind of nice? I guess it varies from each person. As it begins to dry, you notice a few speckles on your face and I thought it was my white heads being removed. After that instead of completely washing it off I tapped a bit of water on my face and gently exfoliated and cleansed my face. It honestly left my skin feeling so soft, fresh and clean! I told my sister to give it a try because this is honestly my favorite face mask and she was surprised by it too! 10/10 for the Himalayan face mask.
Drops of light day cream - dhs 115 (lkr 4,715)
First thing I need to mention is that this is NOT a skin lightening product. I've been using the day cream for quite some time now and I even used a bit at night cause I wanted best results for this review. It's been about three weeks since I've been using the drops of light day cream and I was a bit disappointed by this product. This day cream is suppose to even out your skin tone and give you a fresh/brighter glow over time. I was really looking forward to this cause I spend a lot of time under the sun in Sri Lanka and wanted to work on getting my proper complexion back with a healthy glow. I read a couple of reviews and some said that it takes 2-3weeks for results but honestly it's been three weeks and I haven't seen any results yet other that it really moisturizes my skin. Maybe I'll give it slightly over a month to see if it does anything for me and keep you guys updated. 5/10 for the drops of light day cream.
Drops of light serum - dhs 99 (lkr 4,059)
I use to mix this serum with the day cream and I thought maybe I needed to apply the serum before the cream so my skin could absorb it well. Again, I've been using this product for three weeks now (every other day) and I felt like my skin was getting darker. I don't know if that's just me but I started to consider if evening out the skin tone meant darkening the light areas to make it even. I started applying less on my face (Two drops) and I think this serum needs more time for results, where as face masks the results are almost instant. I would have to rate this serum similar to the day cream 4/10.
Tea tree oil - dhs 42 (lkr 1722)
Now, I have seen many people use this product and could not find a single negative comment or review about it. Sometimes my skin starts to break out after a couple of photoshoots cause I'm with make up on, usually in the hot sun and makeup + hot sun + sweat do not go well together, ever! I had two tiny dark spots on my face and it didn't really bother me but those two were the ideal to test the tea tree oil on. This treatment is known for its powerful purifying properties to keep the skin youthful and fresh. Over the past three weeks I've noticed a huge change with this and I highly recommend you try it out too. Again, products vary from different skin types but this has worked wonders for me. 8/10 for the body shop tea tree oil.
A lot of you asked me how much these products cost etc. In total these were dhs 329 (lkr 13,489) I'm giving you guys the prices so that you can compare online or with any store located near you. Prices vary from each country, for example body shop Abu Dhabi is slightly cheaper than the store in Colombo. I've been using body shop products over the years and loved it every time. I'm definitely going to give my two drops of light babies more time and I'll keep you guys updated if I notice any changes.
