Hi guys,

As you all know working with Asia leisure has been some of my favorite reviews so far! They never fail to make us feel at home at any of their properties. We visited Tamarind Hill in Galle which a colonial style luxury hotel situated within a mile of the Galle fort. It's said to be the perfect blend of old world hospitality and contemporary luxury and I couldn't agree more!

The staff was ever so attentive and I loved the fact that they serve tamarind tea upon arrival. If you wake up early enough for breakfast you'll be surprised to see peacocks roaming around the garden and it's a beautiful sight while enjoying your breakfast. Just like any Asia leisure hotel the food did not disappoint! From lunch to dinner and breakfast, everything we had was made to perfection. The staff also surprised us with a romantic dinner by the pool and I thought that was the sweetest gesture that they wanted to make our stay even more special. You'll find the pool at the bottom of the stairs across the garden. I absolutely love where the pool is located as it's away from the building and you're free to have a dip at your own leisure. There are two bars at tamarind Hill, an indoor and outdoor pool bar. Guests are free to enjoy a cocktail at any time of the day.

We stayed in one of the suites and I cannot begin to tell you how amazing our room was! Apart from the bed being super comfortable one of my favorite parts was the bathroom as it was so spacious and I love enjoying a bubble bath at the end of every stay. Nayan's favorite part of the room was the large balcony. We infect opted to have lunch on the balcony to enjoy some cool breeze along with the view. Tamarind hill is the perfect place if you're looking for a peaceful getaway to relax with family, friends or even to visit by yourself. I hope you guys enjoyed another one of my reviews. Please feel free to ask me any questions regarding my stay at Tamarind Hill and I would be happy to answer them for you.

Hi Guys!

On Saturday we visited bowl'd which is a newly opened restaurant down sea avenue in Colombo. On their story about how bowl'd was coined they wanted people in Sri Lanka to have a healthier option for fast food. They are a quick service restaurant that aims to help create delicious and healthy meals that use fresh produce and seasonal ingredients. Bowl'd primarily focuses on Poké bowls, which originates from Hawaii. It traditionally consists of raw fish that has been marinated in umami-packed sauces, paired with vegetables and topped over rice. Bowl'd has put it's own healthier twist on this by giving you lot's of different options so that you can build your own bowl however you like! They also cater to a wide range of diets from vegan, vegetarian, low carb and gluten free so that there is something for everyone. We tried one appetizer, a Poké bowl and a Nana bowl.

Poké Nachos - This was recommended to us because we could not decide what to go with. It's  sashimi salmon & tuna with spicy soy, marinade. Tempura battered seaweed chips with spring onions, tobiko, panko, and wasabi mayo. Loved everything about this starter from the flavors to the presentation of the dish. The seaweed chips were my favorite, it's definitely something to try at bowl'd. (Rs.750)

Dragon Fruit Nana Bowl - Since we headed to the restaurant at 4pm I was in a mood for something sweet or fruity. Nana bowls are vegan ice cream with frozen banana's blended to a soft cream like consistency and flavored with seasonal fruits and veggies. If you head over to bowl'd specifically for the dragon fruit ice cream it's best to check with them first if it's available to avoid disappointment. It's perfect to sit back, relax and enjoy a little bowl of chilled goodness. The portion of the nana bowl is perfect and it's topped with house made granola and coconut chips which blend perfectly with the fruits. (Rs750)

Spicy Salmon Poké Bowl - This bowl consists of sashimi salmon, spicy soy sauce, edamame, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, avocado, tobiko, wakame, wonton crisp and wasabi mayo. The base for Poké bowls can be chosen from either white or red rice and garnished with spring onions, sesame seeds, pickled cucumbers and pickled ginger. I have to say that the portion of this was quite generous as well and absolutely delicious. For those of you who asked, there is a teriyaki chicken bowl available too. The menu at bowl'd hasn't left anyone out when it comes to options. (L rs.1250 & S rs.1050)

All the sauces used in the dishes are homemade. They also do not use refined sugar in any of their sauces. Especially in the Nana bowls, drinks or sweets only kithul is substituted for sugar. As I mentioned on my Instagram, the ambience at bowl'd is very cozy and home like. I love a restaurant that takes care of street dogs and cats and if you're lucky you'll meet at least one when you visit. They are super friendly and won't bother you, try to spot sashimi the kitten in one of the above photos. I hope you guys enjoyed another one of my reviews. I have another one coming up this week, so stay tuned!

Hi guys,

I hope you all had a fantastic week and ready to enjoy the long weekend! As you know I've worked with two hotels that belong to Asia Leisure and the first one was the river house in Balapitiya. It's very easy to find and is located amongst so much greenery that you feel at peace as soon as you enter the property. The river house is a luxury boutique hotel and you can truly say that by how hospitable the staff are and how spacious the rooms are as well. We stayed in the gin room which had it's own private jacuzzi and garden with the river view. It couldn't get better than that for our weekend at the river house. Our bedroom had a little living room area, a little dinning table for three and a large bed enough to fit four people! My favorite part of the room was our bathroom which directly lead out to the jacuzzi. The bathroom looks like it's out of a magazine which was almost the size of the room. I've mentioned this on my instagram before that I sometimes prefer boutique hotels compared to the standard hotel because of the limited crowd and privacy you have. On both days we had the pool all to our selves and because it's a few feet away from the property you really have a lot of privacy. The pool area is surrounded by tall trees with a calm breeze, I just wanted to have a nap on the sun bed by the pool and wake up in time for dinner.

Another thing what I love about the river house is that they are so flexible in where you eat. Whether you want the meals served in your room, restaurant or by the pool they are more than happy to spoil their guests with the comforts that they need. I had the BBQ prawns for lunch and they were absolutely delicious! definitely recommend the prawns from everything we tried from the menu. There is a great menu to chose from and there's something on it for everyones liking. Dinner was a three corse meal with a delicious soup to start off with. Nayan went for the chicken and mash potato and I ordered the fish with garlic rice. Dessert was my favorite part of the dinner because they had banana fritters! I know some of you may not like this dessert much, Nayan isn't a big fan either. My grandmother use to make this for us when we were kids so it always reminds me of her. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the banana fritters at the river house, It's one of the best ones I've tried! They do sprinkle sugar on top of the syrup so I advice you to ask them not to add the extra sugar on top as it can get bit to sweet. For breakfast they have the western or Sri Lankan option to chose from. We decided to go with western as it's our favorite kind of breakfast. We started off our Sunday with a fresh juice, fruit platter and bread basket, followed by the omelettes, hash browns, bacon and sausages. A great way to start off your Sunday with the breakfast at the river house.

Before we left the property they insisted that we went on the boat ride around the river. They also have kayaks which is a fun activity to do together. I'm so glad we did the boat ride because we saw a crocodile, monkeys, flying fish, eagles and crabs on the way to the mangrove. The mangrove is a short journey but it's so peaceful and a wonderful experience. The boat ride is about 30-40 minutes and they take you around to even a temple that's in the middle of the river. There's also cold water and drinks on board incase you get thirsty on the way. We had such a great weekend at the river house Balapitiya and I truly think that it's a great place for couples, friends and family to visit because it caters to everyone. I hope you guys enjoyed another one of my reviews, stay tuned for my second review for Asia Leisure! I hope you all have an amazing weekend.
