Hi guys,I hope all of you had an amazing weekend! My tea avenue review is finally here after many of you wanted this one, after seeing all these dishes on my Instagram stories. When tea avenue invited me for a review, my sister accompanied me and they literally gave us quite a feast to try out. The staff was amazing and friendly which made us feel at home and very comfortable. We were also told that we did not have to finish all of these dishes that it was simply for me to taste and review but yes, the both of us finished every single one of these dishes!

Peach ice tea - If you have been following my blog for sometime you probably know that ice teas are one of my favorite drinks. Keeps me super hydrated and I love all flavors of ice tea. I would definitely suggest trying out the peach ice tea especially if you're ordering a heavy meal they compliment each other perfectly! (lkr480)

Peppermint matcha frappe - This guy was the trickiest out of the lot. It was the first time I tried matcha so it was quite interesting. If you like matcha this drink would be perfect for you cause it has a hint of peppermint as well. It's a drink you need to acquire a taste for as I feel like not many people might be fans of matcha but I'm so glad I tried it. If you feel like being daring, order it and let me know your experience with the peppermint matcha frappe at tea avenue! (lkr 650)

Ferrero lavish - It was quite interesting to see how they garnish the shake and the tool they use to pour the chocolate sauce. I've had a Ferrero shake before in Dubai and we struggled to finish it because the consistency of the shake was so thick that half way through we felt sick. So I was happy to compare the two and the Ferrero lavish at tea avenue is SO GOOD! It's not overpoweringly sweet and the consistency is not too thick which makes it easy to drink. This was my favorite drink out of the three and it's what I'll order again when I visit tea avenue. (lkr 890)

Signature burger - This beast of a burger comes with potato wedges, guacamole, onion rings, relish, fried egg, chicken patty and melted cheddar cheese! The signature burger is only available after 6pm so make sure you head to tea avenue just in time to try out this beast! My sister took out the chicken patty for me to try out the burger (as I am a pescatarian) and the flavors are just amazing, I mean look at that burger! This and the ice tea compliments each other so well. The potato wedges are thick and crispy, the bun is fresh, and the sauce with those onion rings are just so good! My sister said that she really liked the chicken patty as well and she wished her boyfriend was there to try it out. So that means it was really good. It may seem a little pricy but it's totally worth it. Definite must try! (lkr 1,200)

Chicken and sweet corn sandwich - If you're in the mood for a cup of coffee and a delicious sandwich that has that home cooked vibe to it this is perfect for you! The bread is toasted roast paan which explains why it's so good. I'm not sure if I could have that as a whole meal but it's definitely a good snack! (lkr 620)

Nutella waffle - The waffle comes with a generous amount of Nutella spread over the top of the waffle topped with slices of strawberry and whipped cream. This is another perfect home cooked dish if you have a sweet tooth. This was the last dish we left to try out properly and I left a slice behind cause I was too full but I grabbed the plate back and managed to somehow finish it. If you're not a fan of sweets this would be perfect to share with a friend as it can get quite rich towards the end as the waffle itself is quite big in size. (lkr 950)

The creamy prawn pasta - I usually order pastas when I visit tea avenue but I hadn't tried this particular one before. I'm a fan of all their prawn pastas anyway, I even dragged my friend a few months ago to tea avenue to have pasta with me. If you do order a pasta definitely try out one of their prawn ones as you get quite a lot of prawns and its so creamy and filling! I'm kind of craving this dish right now... You can also chose from a white or red sauce pasta so make sure you definitely try out one of them (lkr 880)

My favorite drink from the whole review was the Ferrero lavish and the prawn pasta! If I did eat chicken then it would definitely be the signature burger. I love when you guys try out dishes I review and tell me how much you enjoyed it as well. So if you do go to tea avenue I would love to know what you tried out and whether you liked it as much as I did. I hope you guys have an amazing week ahead!

the drawing room - a common room for guests to lounge in, play a board game or relax

the tv room - also has a couple of books and two study tabels

thambili, fruit platters, smoked salmon with cream cheese in english muffin, egg hoppers and plain hoppers with pol sambol and onion sambol, four different types of bread with two kinds of jam, cheese and mushroom omelette with grilled tomato and potatoes on the side and kola khanda.

Hello my chicky bananas! I need to start off this hotel review by saying that even though I had tagged the location of this charming place, I received quite a few messages asking me where it is and to post more pictures. So I think I will spare you guys sometime and just say I think we both know how stunning and charming the owl and the pussycat is! When they invited me over for a hotel review/collaboration I was super excited, because I discovered that not many people were even aware that the owl and the pussycat existed, which was quite disappointing. The owl and the pussycat was named after the famous poem by Edward Lear which you would have seen more of in my video.

The owl and the pussycat is located in Talpe, Sri Lanka. Very easy to find and it took us just about 2 hours to reach (stopped for snack). I have been to a couple of places downsouth but this was the first time I was visiting Talpe and I've heard such good things about the Talpe beach. You will be even more excited when you walk in to the hotel and notice the that the beach is literally the hotels back yard. The Talpe beach is honestly one of the nicest beaches I've been to down south. Slightly clear waters, clean and quite shallow!

As we entered we were immediately greeted outside as soon as we parked the car as they were expecting our arrival. Immediate assistance with the bags and I thought that was very welcoming of the staff instead of waiting for us to walk in to the office. Shortly after check in we were informed that we have been upgraded to a suite during our stay for the collaboration as it was vacant at the time. So we were quite grateful and happy about that aswell, I mean who wouldn't prefer a suite over a standard room?

Since we were upgraded to the piggy suite I have to say that there was nothing short in our room. From extra blankets, to cotton buds, proper sized toiletries, our little kitchen was stocked with bowls, plates, an electric cooker, mugs and glasses and our living room area had magazines and a little welcome basket by the hotel with munchies, a bottle of wine and a welcome note which was very cute and personalized. During our one night stay our room was cleaned three times to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The owl and the pussycat also have larger rooms for a larger crowd with two bedrooms, a proper kitchen, two bathrooms, a spacious living room area and a large balcony. Rooms like this are perfect if you're traveling with friends or family!

After we were shown around our room we then headed down to the pool and we were offered thambili (coconut water), we were given the choice of any drink upon our welcome. The staff was so polite and friendly that they made sure to check up on us from time to time to ask us if we needed assistance with anything. We had late lunch with the view of the ocean, with the shade from the coconut trees and it was just a perfect meal. I'm not going in to detail about our lunch and dinner as it was not apart of the collaboration but my dinner was absolutely delicious, it was my favorite thing I ate during our stay at Owl and the pussycat! A lot of you guys asked me the prices but as you know I do not pay for my stay during collaborations. However I did have to pay for lunch, dinner and service charge which added up to 14,600lkr if that helps.

Breakfast - When we arrived at the restaurant after a wonderful time coral hunting at the beach, we were served with a few varieties from the menu so that I can tell you guys which one was my favorite. I've listed each and everything we tried under our breakfast picture above. Nayan's favorite was the smoked salmon with cream cheese in English muffin. He enjoyed it so much that I had a bite and gave him mine as well and my favorite dish was the cheese and mushroom omelette with grilled tomato and potatoes on the side. The fruit platters were both fresh and delicious! The mango and watermelon was my favorite and it was the first time I tried star fruit and that was quite interesting. We were also offered tea and coffee after breakfast but we were both so stuffed after an amazing feast that we could not have anything else after.

The pool is nice and shallow with no dramatic deep end, the water hit me above my waist which is nice and perfect for a relaxing dip. The owl and the pussycat also has a gym, a tv lounge, a drawing room for guests to relax if the weather is bad outside, yoga activities, a little corner by the beach if you're in the mood for a massage and the hotel is located close to the road incase you want to explore the town a bit.

To end this review I need to say that my favorite thing about my stay with the owl and pussycat was the amazing staff, the atmosphere, interior of the rooms, the beach and basically everything else!I just wish there was an actual kitten around for the crazy cat lady that I am. Thank you for all your messages on Instagram regarding this post. I hope I helped you guys decide that you need to visit the owl and the pussycat because it truly is such a charm. I hope you guys have an amazing week ahead!

strawberry mojito, naarang iced tea, jerk chicken and the seafood burger

sugar bear & chocolate chip ice cream

I was invited to Aura Café to try out a few dishes from their new menu and there were a few things I tried out for the first time!

Naarang iced tea & strawberry mojito - If you've read a couple of my café or restaurant posts before you'd know I'm a fan of ice tea. I've never had a naarang flavored iced tea before so it was a really interesting and a fun combo to have which is always refreshing. Apart from the strawberry mojito being so pretty the flavors are not overbearingly sweet. I've had a couple of strawberry mojito's before and some of them and been so sweet it's cringe worthy. These two are the perfect way to beat the heat!

Jerk chicken - Since I don't eat meat my friend got a meat option from their new menu. After a few minutes of contemplating on what to order she finally decided to go with the jerk chicken and I think it was a very good choice. First impression of this dish, the plating! For a café dish the jerk chicken was plated extremely well and a little fancy, made us go "Oooo". Even though it does look quite small it's one of those dishes that fills you up and you end up remaining just a little bit. The jerk chicken comes with chicken bacon and this amazing potato that I had to try so I could tell you guys how good it was. If you like a little masala twist in your food this is a excellent dish to order.

Seafood burger - Has anyone had a sea food burger before? I hadn't, so I decided to try it out cause I know the burgers at Aura café are so good. You have the option of choosing potato wedges, fries or onion rings as a side dish with your burger. If you follow me on snapchat or Instagram you know how big this burger really is! First impression of this dish was how generous the portion was with my onion rings almost falling off the board. If you've never had a seafood burger before you NEED NEED NEEEED to try this! it's one of the best burgers I've eaten in my life and I'm not just saying this because it's a review but my friend who's also a chef thinks so too. Definite must try!

Ice cream - As full as we were after our amazing meals we were offered with Aura cafes signature ice creams, sugar bear and chocolate chip. If the word 'cute' could have a taste it would be the sugar bear ice cream, with it's tiny little jujups sprinkled on top and it's not vanilla flavor I honestly don't know what it is but it's the cutest thing I've eaten. At first when we tried the chocolate chip it wasn't as sweet as it looks but then you catch a chunky chocolate chip while eating it and it's ohh heavens all over again, so soo good! I don't think you can find these flavors anywhere else, so if you do stop at Aura Café make sure you try one of these flavors out.
